Dublin Shakespeare Society is delighted to present a one-day workshop

Michael McCabe

A three hour workshop in

A FRESH PROSPECTIVE
on
SHAKESPEARE
Introducing people to new techniques and ways of building a character, ensemble work, preparing a speech, looking at a scene, looking at a play and indeed doing a play.

Propose one of 5 texts that you can choose from:

    • King Lear
    • Hamlet
    • A Midsummer Nights Dream
    • The Tempest
    • The Taming of The Shrew

Spaces are limited to 20 persons

About Michael McCabe

Michael McCabe

A graduate of the Gaiety School of Acting, favourite roles include Corcadorca Theatre Company, Daghdha Dance Company, and Graffiti Theatre Company before going to advanced training at the prestigious Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq, Paris. Michael is one of Ireland’s leading practitioners in physical theatre, training in France, Ireland, The Laban Guild and SITI Company (under the artistic directorship of Anne Bogart).

In 2020, Michael directed ‘The Grimm Tales’, TU Dublin B.A Graduation performance (Smock Alley Theatre). Other directing work includes ‘Peter Pan’s Cirque D’Imaginaire’, ‘A Wonderful Life’ (TUDublin Theatre); ‘Showcase 2017’, ‘Showcase 2018’, ‘Showcase 2019’, (The New Theatre); ‘The Dead Woman’s Son’ (Smock Alley Theatre); ‘Persians’ (Skidmore Theatre). Favourite movement director credits include: ‘Guerilla Days in Ireland’ (The Olympia Theatre); ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, ‘Antigone’, ‘The Silver Tassie’, ‘Jane Eyre’, ‘As You Like It’ (Mermaid Arts Centre); ‘Collecting Dolls’ (The Civic Theatre).

Michael’s teaching experience includes: The Gaiety School of Acting; Dundalk Institute of Technology; The Conservatoire, TUDublin; TCD; National University of Ireland, Maynooth; Most recently, he was invited to work again with SITI Company, hosted by The Civic Theatre. Michael is currently Theatre Artist in Residence with Smashing Times Theatre Company, working on the upcoming State of the Arts Festival in October this year.
