President’s Address

Welcome to the Dublin Shakespeare Society’s new website in this our 109th year.

This year also marks the 400th anniversary of the great man himself and we have had a very busy year to-date,

April  2016

We had a major production in collaboration with the RDS entitled ‘Shakespeare 400: A Masque for Minerva.

 June 2016

We staged full scale adaptations of the two John McGahern short stories A Slip Up & All Sort of Impossible Things to packed audiences.

‘Rehearsed Readings’ Series

To-date we have presented 3 evenings of rehearsed readings this year.

The next rehearsed reading will be an adaptation by Emily Maher of ‘The Garden Party’ by Katherine Mansfield.

The reading will be performed in the autumn in the Teachers’ Club.

Saturday 1 October Shakespeare 400 @ Ranelagh Arts Festival
The society will be performing a talk entitled ‘Shakespeare 400: Why we’re celebrating’ to be delivered by Paul Maher, in the beautiful setting of Sandford Parish Church on Saturday 1 October at 7pm as part of the Ranelagh Arts Festival.

The evening will include performances of scenes from the plays, songs and sonnets.

Thursday 13th October AGM

The Dublin Shakespeare Society AGM will be held in the Teachers’ Club, Parnell Square on Thursday 13th October at 8pm.

The meeting will be followed by refreshments and a performance by Val O’Donnell and Seán O hEarcáin of songs by JL Molloy from ‘Just Some Songs at Twilight’.        Click here for Event Page

Friday 21st October and Saturday 22nd October A performance entitled

 The Drac Project’

Based on the work of Bram Stoker, directed by Val Greene.
