SUMMARY:Table Quiz February 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Teachers’ Club on the 20th February for a \nTABLE QUiZ \nto help raise money for two productions of four one-act plays. \nREGISTER HERE!!\n4 (maximum 5) persons per table \n€10 per person \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBobby Gould In Hell By David Mamet\, Directed by Suzanne Walshe \nThis is Bobby Gould’s day of reckoning. The conniving movie mogul wakes up in Hell’s Waiting Room. A loquacious interrogator in fishing waders enters. Gould argues his case. A woman he has wronged appears. In this one act play by David Mamet\, described by the New York Times as “funny and pungent” will Bobby be damned or saved? \n27 Wagons Full of Cotton By Tennessee Williams. Directed by Brigid Sweeney \nA dark\, one-act play set on a Southern plantation during the Great Depression. An impoverished gin owner\, Jake\, burns down a rival mill and then places his childlike\, vulnerable wife\, Flora\, in the path of the rival’s representative\, Silva\, as he seeks to secure a cotton contract. The ensuing encounter exposes the brutal intersection of economic desperation\, sexual power\, and the collision of greed\, lust\, and fragile innocence. \nDead Asset Written and Directed by Ray McBride \nFour Criminals on different rungs of the underworld hierarchy are thrust together to guard a high-profile hostage. However\, when things start to go wrong\, this dysfunctional crew’s already frayed relationship descends into something altogether darker and more dangerous. \nDead Asset is a black comedy exploring the extremities of human nature and the corrosive effects of mutual suspicion. This play asks: How do you find out who’s guilty when nobody is innocent? \nBogboy By Deirdre Kinahan\, directed by Joanne Keane. \nFrom one of Ireland’s most compelling contemporary voices comes a darkly comic and deeply humane story. Set against the lonely backdrop of rural Meath\, Bogboy follows Brigid\, a young woman in recovery\, as she collides with a neighbour whose past is knotted up in violence\, memory\, and the shadows of ‘the disappeared’. A play that mixes grit\, humour\, and heartbreak\, Bogboy is both fiercely local and universally resonant.

SUMMARY:Table Quiz
DESCRIPTION:The story goes that a Dublin theatre proprietor by the name of Richard Daly made a bet that he could\, within forty-eight hours\, make a nonsense word known throughout the city\, and that the public would supply a meaning for it. \nAfter a performance one evening\, he gave his staff cards with the word ‘quiz’ written on them\, and told them to write the word on walls around the city. \nThe next day the strange word was the talk of the town\, and within a short time it had become part of the English language. \nFollowing in the theatre tradition we are holding a Table Quiz \n \nFriday 14th September\n@ 7.30pm\nTEACHERS CLUB \n€10 per head \n\n4 per table
