On April 7\, 1926 she shot Italian dictator Benito Mussolini. She was the only would be assassin to actually hit the great man\, grazing his nose with her bullet. Nobody knows if Gibson acted alone. Her ultimate fate is hauntingly sad. Together the director\, writers and actors will explore the character of Violet through a synergetic process culminating in performance presenting Violet through the different stages of her life. The Debutante. The Assassin. The Madwoman. Underscored by a soundtrack which unveils her state of mind.

SUMMARY:“His Grave Has Got No Name” Auditions
DESCRIPTION:A U D I T I O N S \nDublin Shakespeare Society will be presenting a workshop performance of\n“His Grave Has Got No Name”\, \na short play based on Oscar Wilde’s Poem ‘The Ballad of Reading Gaol’. \nThis piece is part of our ‘Shake It Up’ Programme where work in progress is workshopped for one month with a performance of the work to date being presented in front of a live audience at the end of that month. \nWe are looking to audition men of all ages for parts including the prisoners and guards in this ensemble piece. \nAuditions will be held in the Teachers Club on \nWednesday May 4th from 7pm to 10pm \nRehearsals will begin on May 25th with the final performance being delivered on the evening of Saturday 2nd of July. \nIf you are interested in auditioning\, please email marcosisla80athotmail.com or elleninscotlandathotmail.com (put in @ to replace the ‘at’ )by noon\, Saturday April 30th or pop along on the Audition night.

SUMMARY:The Cyrano Project ~ Workshops
DESCRIPTION:A series of three workshops that aim to introduce and develop actors to red nose clown\, that will form the basis of the Shakes production of Cyrano  in the Autumn of 2019. \nThe workshops will also be used to adapt some sections of the play and will form the basis for the selection of the cast for this production. The workshops will introduce a range of techniques to the actors in improvisation and clown work. \nThe actor audience for these workshops inthe “Shakes”\, is those interested in exploring and eveloping clown work and adding it to their skills as actors by applying both acting and clown skills in performing in Cyrano. \nThe workshops will take place in the Teachers’ Club on: \nSaturday April 27th from 12pm \nSaturday May 25th from 12pm    and \nSaturday June 15th from 12pm \nIf you are interested in joing in please contact George Carroll at gcarroll_gc@hotmail.com

DESCRIPTION:Actors’ and Directors’ Workshop\nGeraldine Maguire will be directing ‘By the Bog of Cats’ by Marina Carr to be performed in The Teacher’s club from Monday 12th June 2017 to Saturday 17th June. \nIn anticipation Two Workshops will be held in The Teacher’s Club as follows:\n10am to 3pm\, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th February 2017\nand 10am to 3pm\, Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th February 2017 \n \nGeraldine Maguire – Workshop facilitator\nGeraldine has an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Drama and Theatre Studies from TCD and a Masters. She has directed varied works from The Importance of Being Earnest to Death of a Salesman. She recently produced seven Beckett plays\, directing three of them. She has performed many roles\, from Desdemona in Othello\, to Blanche in Street Car Named Desire\, to Mrs Gogan in The Plough and the Stars. Recently she performed at the RDS in The Masque of Minerva\, a musical revue to celebrate Shakespeare’s 500 year anniversary\, also the lead in Patrick Pearse’s The King for Sparc Productions. \nCaroline Coffey – Workshop facilitator\nCaroline is a drama facilitator and director with a Masters in International Theatre studies from DCU and a graduate of Artstrain programme with The National Association of Youth Drama. She is a theatre performance graduate of Inchicore College with various screen credits. She has trained in Theatre of the Oppressed with Julian Boal. She tutors in the Gaiety School of Acting. She works freelance with community theatre projects and most recently with the Abbey Theatre community and outreach programme. \nWorkshop Schedule \nWe recommend that participants will read the play before the workshop \n\nStart with limbering up exercises.\nA brief outline of the work which will include: Themes of the play and the plot.\nThe mood and atmosphere of the play will be discussed.\nThe societal power structures within the play will be explored.\n5 key scenes will be improvised and we will discuss their effectiveness.\nEach scene will then be performed\, keeping in mind the aspects discussed.
